Returns and Exchanges Policy
SHUNGA TOKYO Returns & Exchange Policy
Thank you for purchasing products from SHUNGA TOKYO (operated by the Wa-Modern Lifestyle Association). This policy outlines the conditions for returns and exchanges of products purchased on this website.
1. Basic Policy
As SHUNGA TOKYO products are made-to-order (produced one by one after an order is placed), returns and exchanges due to customer convenience (e.g., difference in image, size difference, change of mind) are generally not accepted. Please be sure to check the specifications, size chart, and material description on the product page before placing your order.
2. Cases Where Returns/Exchanges Are Possible
We will only accept returns or exchanges in the following cases:
- If the product was damaged during shipping.
- If there was a clear manufacturing defect in the product (e.g., significant sewing defect, missing or largely misaligned print).
- If you received a different product than what you ordered (e.g., wrong size, wrong color, different item).
Normal wear and tear, wrinkles from use, slight print unevenness, and other individual differences that arise due to the nature of on-demand manufacturing are not considered defects.
3. Application Deadline
Please contact us within 7 days of product arrival. We will not be able to respond to requests received on or after the 8th day.
4. How to Apply
Please contact us at the email address below with the following information:
- Order number
- Your name
- Details of the defect (damaged area, symptoms, etc.)
- Photos of the defective area (multiple photos facilitate confirmation)

*For returns and exchange inquiries, we generally only accept requests via email.
5. Response After Confirmation
After reviewing the information you provided, our association or the manufacturing contractor (e.g., Printful) will assess the situation and respond in one of the following ways:
- Exchange with a non-defective product (from stock or new production)
- Refund of the product price and shipping fee
If a return is necessary, our association will bear the shipping costs.
6. Refund Processing
If a refund is confirmed, we will initiate the refund process within 7 business days after confirming the defect. Refunds will generally be made to the same payment method used for the purchase. Please note that it may take several days to several weeks for the refund to reflect in your account, depending on the processing schedule of credit card companies and payment service providers.
7. Returns/Exchanges Due to Customer Convenience
As stated in Section 1, returns and exchanges due to customer convenience, such as size differences or differences in perception from the image, are generally not accepted. Please utilize the size chart on the product page, and if you have any concerns, please contact info@shungatokyo.com before placing your order.
8. International Shipping
This policy applies to sales within Japan. The return and exchange policy for international shipping will be stipulated separately in English (planned for v2).
